Subject: Another gem from this era
February 2000 is unquestionably one of the peak months in Cheese's history. They were still playing pretty small venues, but they are already jamming as an incredibly tight ensemble. At the same time, the jamming is just beginning to move into some more interesting areas.

Highlights abound in this San Diego show. The first set Missing Me>jam is excellent, and MLT is almost always improved with a guest horn player. Even Resume Man has some unique style added to the end of the song.

This is the second-ever version of Lost. The Sand Dollar>Shine combo was used multiple times on this tour and all of them are worth seeking out. Kang and Kyle lead the listener on a journey during this extremely patient, unique Shine.

Carlos Washington adds a smooth touch to Footprints without being overpowering. The spacey jam out of Don't Say has some beautiful playing from Kyle, and Jellyfish is extra-long with the addition of Carlos again.

Subject: Best Shine
If you are looking for the best Shine I can guarantee you it's right here. The intro, cool as hell. It has organ keys instead of the piano ones that you hear in 2/10/00, 3/7/00, etec, but it's still the coolest. They do screw up that crucial note at the very end of the song, right before the "Shiiiine," but only after Kang plays the shit out of the mandolin for several minutes. Besides, they seem to screw up that one note a lot during this crucial Shine development period (i.e. 3/7/00 is exactly the same mistake and is also an awesome Shine).

Notes

* with Carlos Washington.
